…Larry Zukerman, a Cleveland attorney who has also represented athletes, said that he does not agree that Watson should have settled if his claims that he did nothing wrong are true.
Zukerman said that in cases where someone is being falsely accused, news of a settlement can invite more accusers to come forward.
He also acknowledged that the ongoing lawsuits created a distraction for Watson and the team.
“It might be his strategy to believe that he’s ending everything and therefore enabling the league to impose whatever punishment it will,” Zukerman said. “I think it’s a delicate balance you have to consider, but me and my clients have always done better fighting than just doling out money.”
