On Friday, March 8th, 2024, Attorneys Michael Lear and Adam Brown of Zukerman, Lear & Murray Co., L.P.A. (ZLM), secured a total acquittal in a criminal jury trial in Lake County.
ZLM’s client was charged by the Lake County Grand Jury with two (2) counts of Felony Burglary, one count of Domestic Violence and one Count of Menacing. He was alleged to have unlawfully entered the home of his ex-wife and physically assaulted her and threatened her with physical harm, while inside the residence.
If found guilty at trial, he was facing a maximum potential prison term of 8-12 years, tens of thousands of dollars in fines, and a strong likelihood of never being able to visit with his minor children again.
ZLM’s client denied the allegations, steadfastly asserted that the alleged “victim” was lying, and entered pleas of Not Guilty to all charges.
ZLM’s client turned down all of the State’s offers and took the case to trial.
ZLM’s lawyers mounted an unrelenting and vigorous defense and ultimately showed the jury that 1) the alleged “victim” was telling shifting stories and that she was lying about significant details, and 2) the law did not support a conviction for the crimes charged.
The jury agreed and found ZLM’s client Not Guilty of all charges. Justice was done.
